This is the agreement between you and Sleep on Call. It covers who can use the app, how to behave, and what you can expect of us. By using Sleep on Call, you accept it.
Last updated 1 October 2026Applies to the Android and iOS appsupport@sleeponcall.com
In short
For adults. You need to be 18 or over. Sleep on Call is a language-exchange app for grown-ups learning a language — it is not a dating service, and it has no adult content.
Be decent to people. Harassment, hate, threats and spam get an account removed.
Calls are never recorded — not by us, and not by you. Recording someone here breaks these terms.
What you say is yours. We claim no ownership of your profile, your messages or your voice.
You can leave whenever you want. Settings → Profile Settings → Delete Account.
Who we are
Sleep on Call is operated by the developer of the Sleep on Call app. You can reach us about anything in these terms at support@sleeponcall.com.
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and what you control.
Who can use Sleep on Call
You need to be 18 or over. Sleep on Call puts you in live voice conversations with adults you have not met, so we built it for grown-ups. We ask for your age when you sign up, and by using the service you're confirming it's accurate. If we ever learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll remove it.
If we've removed you from Sleep on Call before, we'd ask that you not come back — unless we've told you in writing that you're welcome to.
Signing in happens through your Google or Apple account, so keeping that account secure is down to you.
What Sleep on Call is
Sleep on Call is a voice language exchange. You are matched with people who speak the language you are learning, and you talk to them — one to one, or in live rooms with several people. Chat unlocks once two people have both chosen to keep talking.
It is a place to talk. It is not a dating service, not a marketplace, and not a platform for advertising, recruiting or selling anything.
How to behave here
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Sleep on Call. These rules apply to everything you say, send and broadcast — your profile, your bio, your display name, your chats, your room comments and your voice.
Child sexual abuse and exploitation has no exception and no warning. Do not post, send, request or solicit sexual content involving a minor, or any content that sexualises, endangers or exploits a child in any way. We remove the content immediately, permanently remove the account, and report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant authority.
Do not harass, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone.
Do not send sexual content or sexual advances where they are not wanted. Sexual harassment ends accounts, and reports of it are reviewed.
Do not post hate speech, or attack anyone for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Do not impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are.
Do not spam, advertise, promote other services, or solicit money.
Do not use the service to break the law, or to help anyone else do so.
Do not record calls or rooms, take screenshots of other people in order to share them, or publish what another user says here without their agreement.
Do not use bots, scrapers or automated tools against the service, or try to extract other users’ data.
Do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the app or its servers.
You are responsible for what you say and send.
Your profile, and what you can change
Most of your profile is yours to edit freely. Your languages and level, your interests, your bio, what you do, your avatar and your background can be changed as often as you like.
Four things are deliberately hard to change: your name, gender, age and native language. They are how other people know who they are talking to, so they are not meant to be swapped around.
Filling one in for the first time is free and takes effect immediately.
After that, each one can be changed once — and only once 18 days have passed since it was set.
Once that single change is used, the field is fixed.
Country and city are not among these four, and the app never lets you change either yourself, at any time: your country is detected automatically from your connection when you sign in, and we do not ask for a city at all. Hiding your country, what you do or your online status is a separate control, always available.
Your content
What you write, send and say is yours. We claim no ownership of it.
So that the service can work at all, you give us the limited licence we need to carry your messages to their recipients and show your profile to other users, and to store them for as long as your account exists. That licence is for running Sleep on Call and nothing else. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we are obliged to keep or need in order to prevent abuse.
Safety, reporting and enforcement
You can block anyone, and you can report anyone. Blocking hides you from each other. Reports are reviewed, and we act on them — including removing content, restricting an account, or removing it permanently.
We may remove content, or suspend or end an account, that breaks these terms, that puts other people at risk, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
Calls are not recorded
Voice is carried live and discarded when the call or room ends. Nothing is stored, nothing is transcribed, and nobody — including us — can listen back. This cuts both ways: recording another person is a breach of these terms, and may also be a criminal offence where you live.
Services we rely on
Signing in uses Google or Apple. Push notifications are delivered by Expo, and crash reports go to Sentry. Your use of those services is covered by their own terms, not ours. Our Privacy Policy names what each of them receives.
Our content
The app itself — its name, its mark, its artwork and its code — belongs to us. You may use it as it is meant to be used. You may not copy, resell or repackage it.
Availability and changes to the service
We work on Sleep on Call continuously, so features may change, and parts of it may be added, altered or withdrawn. We do not promise that the service will always be available or free of faults, and calls depend on networks we do not control.
Ending this agreement
You may end it at any time: Settings → Profile Settings → Delete Account. Your profile stops being visible to other people straight away, and the account is permanently erased 12 days later. If you sign back in within those 12 days, the deletion is cancelled — that gap exists so an accidental deletion can be undone. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is erased.
We may end this agreement if you break these terms, or if we stop offering the service.
Disclaimers
Sleep on Call connects you with people we do not know, and we cannot check who anyone is or what they say. You talk to strangers at your own risk, and you should use the same judgement you would anywhere else online.
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond what these terms state — including that it will be uninterrupted, or that it will be free of faults or of harmful content posted by others.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, arising out of your use of Sleep on Call. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, among other things.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the operator of Sleep on Call is established, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Where you live may give you rights that this clause cannot take away, and if it does, those rights apply.
Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and update the date at the top. Continuing to use Sleep on Call after that means you accept the change. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account.
